EducationSuperHighway and a coalition of New Mexico organizations that support digital learning have launched an initiative to take an inventory of the state of Internet access in New Mexico's K-12 schools.

During the month of May, we need teachers, librarians, technology coordinators, administrators and students in each of our 21 schools take one minute of their time to test their school's Internet access.  To ensure we have an accurate assessment, each school should ideally conduct at least 10 tests at different times of the day / week over the course of the month.

The information gather by EducationSuperHightway will be used to better manage our school's existing Internet access for learning, plan for future increases in access and support our planning for the next-generation assessments to be launched in 2014-15 (PARCC- Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers). We will also contribute the data to the National School Speed Test database to help guide the allocation of $2.5 billion in annual federal funding for school Internet access upgrades.
