Gadsden High School MESA students recently traveled to Santa Fe to participate in STEM Day at the New Mexico State Capitol, proudly representing Gadsden ISD at the Roundhouse.

During the visit, students engaged directly with state leaders and STEM advocates from across New Mexico. They met with Representative Lara to share details about their MESA projects and discuss their interests in future STEM pathways. Students also participated in the official STEM Day press conference and attended the main event, where Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham delivered an inspiring address highlighting the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education for New Mexico’s future.

The experience provided students with a powerful real-world connection between STEM education, public policy, and leadership. By interacting with elected officials and attending the governor’s address, students saw firsthand how their academic work connects to broader state initiatives and workforce opportunities.

Beyond the learning experience, our students represented Gadsden High School and the entire Gadsden community with professionalism and pride. Opportunities like STEM Day reinforce the district’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality STEM programs and empowering students to pursue college and career pathways in high-demand fields.

We are incredibly proud of our MESA students for showcasing their innovation, ambition, and leadership at the state level.
